All 28 letters as cut-out flashcards, eight to a page: the letter large, its Arabic and English name, and a picture word that starts with it. Print on card, cut, play.

What is on the pages

  • All 28 letters as flashcards, eight to an A4 page, with dashed lines to cut along.
  • Each card: the letter large, its Arabic and English name with transliteration, and a picture word that starts with it (أسد — lion, باب — door).
  • Four blank cards on the last page for the child's own words.

How to use it

Print on card or thick paper so the cards survive small hands. Laminate them, or slip them into a photo sleeve, if they are going to live in a school bag.

Three games that work from age three: hold up a card and say the sound together; spread out five cards and ask for one; hide a card and have them find something in the room that starts with its sound.

Questions

What paper should I print the flashcards on?

Card stock (160–250 gsm) works best. On ordinary paper, glue the sheet onto a cereal box before cutting — it gives the cards the same stiffness for free.

Are the example words with pictures?

Yes — every card has a picture word that starts with the letter, with its transliteration and English meaning, so non-Arabic-speaking parents can use them too.
